The Night Before NaNoWriMo

NaNoWriMo 2017 starts tomorrow. For the last month, I’ve been preparing, and I think I’m ready.

As I said in the beginning, the biggest problem for me is going to be motivation. I have to write my 2000 words a day plus write about 4000 for my real job, and that’s going to be a tall order. But I’m going to do it.

I’ve decided not to start posting the story on FFnet right away, as I’m going to start once I have a week’s worth of chapters finished. That means I’ll also have to add some editing time in there even if it goes against the rules of NaNoWriMo. That can’t be helped as I won’t post a story without a little proofreading being done. I won’t work with a beta this time either, as I don’t want that delay.

I’m going to plan on a chapter a day, with each chapter coming in between 1700 and 2500 words. That means by the end of November I should have 50 chapters to post. I plan on posting twice a week.

This story is going to be very long. Much longer than 50k, so having 50 chapters done should keep me ahead. After November ends, if I can add 2 chapters a week then I’ll always be ahead.

So that’s the plan. I’m really looking forward to this, but I’m also very nervous. I’m going to be so upset if I’ve spent the last month preparing for this and I don’t win.

I shouldn’t have that attitude.

I’m going to win.

I’m going to win.

That’s better. Wish me luck, and I’ll see you on the flip side of November.
